१. विद्यालयको परीचय
१.१ ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमी ओखलढुङ्गा जिल्लाको दक्षिण पश्चिम क्षेत्र स्थित सुन्दर बस्तीबाट परिचित लिखु गाउँपालिका प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्यमा धनी समशितोष्ण जलवायु तथा समावेशी वस्तीबाट सु–सज्जित रमणीय ठाँउ हो । उत्तर पश्चिम मोहडामा अवस्थित अत्याधिक हरिया वनवुट्यान भित्र सहर बजारझैँ देखिने यस ग्रामीण वस्तीलाई उत्तरतर्फका उच्च हिमशिखरबाट सूर्यको प्रथम किरणको सुनौलो दृश्यले अत्यन्त मनमोहक बनाएको छ । ग्रामोदय राष्ट्रिय प्राथमिक विद्यालयका नामले वि.सं. २०२० चैत्र १ गते साविक गाम्नाङ्गटार वडा नम्बर २ साउने पँधेराबाट यस विद्यालयको स्थापना भएको थियो । संस्थापक अध्यक्ष तुलसीप्रसाद भट्टराई हुनुहुन्थ्यो भने प्रअ मनोरथ पोख्रेल हुनुहुन्थ्यो । वि.सं. २०२८ सालमा साउनेमा भएको विद्यालय भवन जीर्ण भएपछि जनताहरुको सक्रियतामा विद्यालय गाम्नाङ्गटार-४ सिन्कीचौरमा सार्ने र खाल्टे साउनेका लागि छुट्टै विद्यालय माग गर्ने सल्लाह बमोजिम हाल विद्यालय भइरहेको स्थानमा विद्यालय स्थानान्तरण गर्ने निर्णय गरिएको थियो ।
Located in the southwestern part of Okhaldhunga district, the beautiful settlement of Likhu Rural Municipality is rich in natural beauty, temperate climate, and inclusive communities. On its northwestern front, the lush green forests make this rural village appear like a bustling town, while the golden rays of the rising sun from the northern Himalayan peaks create a breathtaking view.
१.२ भौगोलिक अवस्था ओखलढुङ्गा जिल्लाको सदरमुकामबाट करिब ५० किलोमिटरको भौगोलिक दुरीमा रहेको लिखु गाउँपालिका अन्तरगतको गाम्नाङ्गटार उत्तर पश्चिम मोहडामा ढल्किएर रहेको छ । यस गाउँको पूर्वी उत्तरमा लिखु गाउँपालिकको टारकेराबारी पर्दछ भने पश्चिमतर्फ कन्चन लिखु नदी बहेको छ । साथै दक्षिणतर्फ छिमेकी गाउँ यसमले स्नेहको हात फैलाउँदै मुस्कुराइरहेको छ । यस गाम्नाङ्गटारको उत्तरी अक्षांस २७.३९५१८ डिग्री छ भने पूर्वी देशान्तरबाट ८६.२५३१८ डिग्री रहेको छ । समुद्री सतहबाट १२९२ को उचाइमा रहेको यस विद्यालय शिक्षा प्रवाह गर्ने अग्रणी संस्था भएको छ ।
१.३ विद्यालय रहेको समुदायको बनोट ग्रामोदय युगकवि सिद्धिचरण माध्यमिक विद्यालय लिखु नदीको यस क्षेत्रमा बहुजाती, बहुभांषी, बहुधार्मिक,बहुसांस्कृतिक समुदाय बसोबास गर्दै आएको छ । जातीय हिसाबले ब्राम्हण, क्षेत्री, जनजाती, दलित अनि भाषाका हिसाबले नेपाली, तामाङ्,मगर र नेवारी बोल्ने मानिस भए पनि प्रभाव भने नेपाली भाषीहरुकै रहेको छ । चाडपर्वका हिसाबले हिन्दुहरुले दशैँ, तिहार, माघेसक्रान्ति, तीज, एकादशी मनाउँछन् भने बौद्ध धर्मावलम्बीहरुले ल्होसार तथा जनजातीहरुमा सुनुवारको चण्डी नाच महत्वपूर्ण मानिन्छ। समग्रमा यो क्षेत्र समावेशी समाजको चरीत्र बोकेको छ । यहाँ धर्म, संस्कृति, परम्परा, जाति, भाषका नाममा कहिल्यै झगडा भएको छैन । अनेकतामा एकता तथा धार्मिक सहिष्णुता नै यहाँको मुख्य विशेसता हो । आर्थिक कोणबाट हेर्दा यहाँ मध्यम वर्गीय जनसमुदायको बसोबास रहेको छ ।
१.४. विध्यालय सेवा क्षेत्र लिखु किनारको एक अग्रणी विद्यालयको रुपमा स्थापित ग्रामोदय युगकवि सिद्धिचरण माविको सेवा क्षेत्रको दायरा स्थापना कालदेखि नै फराकिलो रहँदै आएको छ । ओखलढुङ्गा जिल्लाको दक्षीण पश्चिम भेगमा अवस्थित नर्मदेश्वर, रानीवन, सिंहदेवी, यसम, टारकेराबारी, पोकली, बिलन्दु, रगनी, खिजी फलाटे लगायतका गाउँ र रामेछाप जिल्लाका उत्तर पूर्वी सैपु, दुरागाउँ, बिजुलीकोट, भुजी, पीर्ति, गाउँका विद्यार्थीहरु प्रत्यक्ष लाभान्वित भएका छन् १.५ विद्यालय सेवा क्षेत्रको , रैथाने ज्ञान, सीप, शैली ग्रामोदय युगकवि सिद्धिचरण माध्यमिक विद्यालय ओखलढुङ्गा, लिखुको रैथाने ज्ञान, सीप र जीवनशैलीका दृष्टिले अत्यन्त समृद्ध छ। यहाँका समुदायले पुस्तौंदेखि आफूले विकास गरेको परम्परागत अभ्यास, सामाजिक प्रणाली र जीवनोपयोगी सीपहरूलाई जीवित राखेका छन्। समुदायमा प्रचलित सीपहरूमा: क) परम्परागत कृषि र पशुपालन: मौसमी खेती, गोठालो प्रथा, बाख्रा–गाईपालन, जैविक मल प्रयोग। ख) निर्माण सीप: ढुंगा–काठको घर बनाउने, काष्ठकला। ग) जडीबुटी ज्ञान: घरेलु उपचार, जडीबुटी चिन्ने र प्रयोग गर्ने परम्परा। घ) लोकसंस्कृति: लोकगीत, नृत्य, पञ्चेबाजा, मेलापात र पराल संकलनजस्ता साझा श्रम परम्परा। यी सीप र ज्ञानले समुदायलाई आत्मनिर्भर बनाएको छ। विद्यालयले यी सम्पदालाई शिक्षाको सहायक स्रोतको रूपमा प्रयोग गर्नसक्छ—जस्तै स्थानीय पाठ्यक्रम विकास, परियोजना कार्य, सीपमूलक तालिम तथा व्यवहारिक शिक्षामार्फत। यसले विद्यार्थीलाई आफ्नै समुदायप्रति गर्व, सीपको सम्मान र भविष्यप्रति आशावादी बनाउनेछ।
The school was established on Chaitra 1, 2020 B.S. under the name Gramodaya National Primary School at Saune Pandhera, Ward No. 2 of the then Gamnangtar. The founding chairperson was Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai, and the headmaster was Manorath Pokhrel. In 2028 B.S., when the school building at Saune became dilapidated, the local people actively decided to relocate the school to Sinki Chaur, Gamnangtar-4, and establish a separate school for Khalte Saune. Thus, the school was transferred to its present location.
Gamnangtar, under Likhu Rural Municipality, lies about 50 kilometers from the district headquarters of Okhaldhunga. It slopes towards the northwest. To the northeast lies Tarkebari of Likhu Rural Municipality, while to the west flows the Kanchan Likhu River. To the south, neighboring villages extend their friendly ties.
The geographical coordinates of Gamnangtar are 27.39518° N latitude and 86.25318° E longitude, with an elevation of 1292 meters above sea level. The school stands as a leading institution in providing education in this region.
Gramodaya Yugkavi Siddhicharan Secondary School is situated in a diverse community along the Likhu River. The area is home to multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural groups. Ethnically, Brahmins, Chhetris, Janajatis and Dalits reside here. Linguistically, Nepali, Tamang, Magar, and Newar are spoken, though Nepali dominates.
Festivals celebrated include Dashain, Tihar, Maghe Sankranti, Teej, and Ekadashi by Hindus, while Buddhists celebrate Lhosar. Among Janajatis, the Chandi Naach of the Sunuwar community holds special importance. Overall, the area reflects an inclusive society characterized by unity in diversity and religious tolerance. Economically, the majority of residents belong to the middle class.
Established as a leading school along the Likhu River, Gramodaya Yugkavi Siddhicharan Secondary School has had a wide service area since its inception. Students from villages in southwestern Okhaldhunga - including Narmadeshwar, Raniban, Singhdevi, Yasam, Tarkebari, Pokali, Bilandu, Ragani, Khiji Phalate - as well as northeastern villages of Ramechhap district such as Saipu, Duragaun, Bijulikot, Bhujhi, Pirti have directly benefited from this institution.
The school is enriched by the indigenous knowledge, skills, and lifestyle of Likhu, Okhaldhunga. The local communities have preserved traditional practices, social systems and life skills developed over generations.
Key indigenous skills include:
Traditional agriculture and livestock: seasonal farming, herding, goat and cattle rearing, use of organic manure.
Construction skills: stone-and-wood houses, woodcraft.
Herbal knowledge: identifying and using medicinal herbs for household remedies.
Folk culture: folk songs, dances, Panchai Baja music, communal labor traditions like melapat and straw collection.
These skills have made the community self-reliant. The school can integrate these resources into education through local curriculum development, project work, skill-based training and practical learning. This approach instills pride in students for their community, respect for traditional skills and optimism for the future.
